Difusão, produção e consumo das imagens visuais: o caso dos ex-votos mineiros do século XVIIIAbstract
Studies about visual means show that the analysis of art should not be based only on formal aspects. Cultural historyhas ought to focus on the social and cultural conditions of production and reception of images. These questions are addressed to the ex-votos from Minas Gerais in the present article. These ex-votos are produced to give thanks to a miracle that had been granted, and they are related to the universe of religiosity of popular culture. These objects allow the approach to the aspects of production and consumption of art in the society of the eighteenth-century.
