As Artes de um Negócio: no Mundo da Técnica Fotográfica do Século XIX

Abstract

This paper intend to prepare a discussion about production, use and circulation of nineteenth century photograph portraits, based on a study of photograph manuals of that century. In those pages, we can notice how stylistic and artistic concepts were used by photographers to attend the request of an avid clientele in making it own image according to its desires, dreams, ideology, culture and social status.
