State and education in Argentina: an approach to Foucault’s uses to think about the Federal Education Law of 1993

Abstract: Within the reception of proposals from the French philosopher Michel Foucault in the recent history of Argentina, a set of readings and interventions is produced in spaces related to education and pedagogy. In Argentina in the 1990s, the philosopher’s elaborations are a significant reference in the educational agenda: they operate in relation to the problems of power, authority and control in the classroom, in the analysis of educational experiences and in relation to pedagogical thinking in general. In this article, we reconstructed and analyzed some readings and appropriations of the Foucauldian ‘toolbox’ related to the educational area and aimed at thinking about the reform put into effect with the sanction of the Federal Education Law in 1993.
