This paper aims to analyze the lawfullness of preventive intervention under the United Nations Charter. The objective is to assess a legal perspective. In doing so, case-studies will be presented to illustrate the arguments in favor of and against the preventive use of force. In addition, the 'responsability to protect' will be analized as a possibility of the preventive use of force in situations of serious violation of human rights.
