This article describes United States power projection in military interventions through a conceptual framework that sustains a historical review of the formation process of the United States Rapid Deployment Force to the National Security Strategies of the 1990s. It also deepens the understanding of the logistical and tactical aspects of the military units that make up the military intervention capability of the United States. In conclusion, it points out the utility of such an approach for the policy-making process of the Brazilian Defense Policy.
