A política externa do governo FHC: continuidade e renovação

President Fernando Henrique Cardoso's administration has carried on the pattern of behaviour which historically has made Brazilian foreign policy an element of credibility for the country. To this he added the reliability and attractiveness that derives from the success of the Real Plan, the quality of his leadership and the weight of his personal involvement in diplomatic activity, as well as his commitment to the ideals and values - democracy, human rights, social justice and preservation of the environment - now dominant on the world scene.
