This research aimed to detect the sensitivity of rice varieties to ammonium gluphosinate herbicide. Two assays were conducted based on the germination test of the Varieties: BRS-Chuí, BRS-Taim and BRS-Firmeza. In the first assay moist germination paper with herbicide was used and in the second assay, the seeds were imbibed in a solution containing herbicide. In the first assay, ammonium gluphosinate concentrations: 0,0; 0,4; 0,008; 0,12; 0,16% were tested and in the second, the concentrations were: 0,0; 0,04; 0,08; 0,12; 0,16; 0,2; 0,4; 0,6; 1,0 and 2,0%. The following parameters : germination %; roots and shoots length of normal seedlings and total seedling length were analyzed after 7 and 14 days. It was concluded: a) there is a variation in the cultivar sensitivity to ammonium glufosinate, b) the germination of rice seeds is inhibited when, the concentration of ammonium glufosinate is 0,04% in moist germination paper, or 1,0% when imbibing the seeds in herbicide solution.
