Quality of tobacco seeds separated by a densimetric table

There is little information available on the cleaning of small seeds, especially in tobacco, where they show significant differences in specific gravity due to maturation differences. The objective of this study was to evaluate the physiological attributes and health of tobacco seeds separated on a densimetric table with independent experiments using the seeds of seven cultivars. The seeds were air cleaned and then separated on the table. The end of the outlet of the 50cm wide table was divided into four sections plus an exit for any stones. The treatments consisted of six fractions: one from the input hopper and four from the top, medium high, medium low and low sections and also one from the outlet for stones. The physiological quality of the tobacco seeds collected from the upper discharging zone of the densimetric table was significantly higher than that of seeds collected from the lower sections. Discarding seeds discharged from the lower part of the table contributes to the improvement of the physiological quality of tobacco seed lots.
