Emancipatory workshops as a worker’s health intervention

Abstract

This essay presents emancipatory workshops as a proposal for worker’s health intervention aimed at health personnel. The workshops have Historical and Dialectical Materialism as a theoretical methodological reference. They are based on the concept of work as a central category of social relations analysis, and on the theories of social determination of health and of emancipatory education. The emancipatory workshop is strategic to promote a critical analysis of work processes and the proposition to overcome repetitive practices that characterize the health production process. Coherently to the theoretical reference, the workshop consists of an educational process that adopts dialogic strategies, which allow the clear exposition of the essence for the formulation of new syntheses of the phenomena under discussion. New knowledge and practices can only be achieved by radical criticism to the health production process and, ultimately, to capitalism.
