ABSTRACT
The creation of open-access digital repositories is one of the solutions found for the process of organizing, preserving, and disseminating any type of information. It substantially contributes to the progress and development of Science and the democratization of information. In the field of legal documentation and information, there is a clear need to follow principles of quality management, data processing, and data relationships for the creation and development of any legal research system, making data more accessible and interoperable while facilitating its discovery, use, and reuse.
Objective: To describe the development process of the Legal Documentation and Information Repository (REDIJ), from its initial concept to its implementation. Methodology: The experience report method was used to describe the entire process of creating and developing the repository. Results and Discussions: The study presents the main stages of building the repository, starting from its origin and planning, covering its specific objectives, software selection, definition of collections and metadata standards, maintenance, layout definition, as well as the benefits and challenges encountered.
Conclusion: It was concluded that, in addition to contributing to related research and experiences, the report also highlights the importance of ensuring that any initiative like this must be strategically protected by organizations that enable and guarantee its continuous development. Otherwise, all the work risks being lost or discontinued.
