The responsibility principle of H. Jonas as a counterpoint to the nanotechnologies (ir)responsible advance

Abstract:

The purpose of this article is to conduct a dialogue with Hans Jonas, seeking to identify the Responsibility Principle pedagogical role and whether it contributes to support a new ethic of responsibility against the nanotechnologies (ir)responsible advance. Based on the phenomenological-hermeneutic method, the hypothesis is drawn from the contour of care (theoretical reference of Martin-Heidegger and Hans Jonas) as a structuring element necessary to evaluate and project the consequences of the advances of nanotechnologies in the intergenerational perspective. The theoretical conceptions that supported the study indicate that Jonas, by philosophically rescuing the theme of the utopian and dangerous promise of new technologies, advances in relation to the traditional ethics by pointing out the need for a collective moral responsibility that also extends to future generations.
