Resistance and adjustment: the worker in the 1930s

Abstract

The story of one process may indicate social, legal, economic and politics transformations. The present case is a labor claim promoted by workers at one coal mine in 1930s that questioned the failure of new social legislation enacted by the provisional government of Getulio Vargas. In the middle of this dilemma, many strategies and actions were used by the parties, both to suit to as to resist to the constitutional rules with the National Labour Council. Given the uncertainties and weaknesses, with the microhistory method, we can identify relationchips between justice, workers and employees, that forged into new “places of rights” in that period of time.
