Abstract
This paper analizes the set of representations and practices regarding community-oriented policing present in the speeches of law enforcement agents based at a UPP as a result of an ethnographic research. Its objective analysis aims to identify to what extent, given the proposal of proximity police, the relations of Rio de Janeiro State Police (Polícia Militar) with the slum dwellers have been modified from the appropriation, reframing or reinterpretation about the project.
