The present investigation was conducted with the aim of characterizing the technological organization of leprosy treatment with the polychemoterapy, considered to be a technology, signifying a conjunction of knowledge and specific tools appropriate for treatment of leprosy. For the analysis of the work process one health center and two instruments were used: observation of the actions by the agents and interview with the agents and clients. Polychemoterapy determined the induction of the professionals into the work process, permitted new social relationships, suffered the notable influence of the social and historic conditions of the time, and created new tools to attend the aim of an individual and curative treatment. The control of the health-disease process as a whole was considered to be secondary. The nursing routine has turned out to be divided into separate and independent tasks.
