The work's .objective is the identification and exploration of mastectomy repercussion, by breast cancer, in women's life. The interview with open questions was applied to a patient from Instituto do Câncer do Ceará. The analysis of the basic facts was made in four groups with similar information. It was found out that the mutilation had great repercussion to the patient, who tumed into living with indifference. The absence of qualified assistance aimed at the needs of the patient and the destructive meaning of the loss ofthe breast, are important factors which contribute to the patient's' bio-psico-socio-spiritual unbalancing.
