Este estudo tem por objetivo analisar a origem da enfermagem pediatra moderna intitucionalizada em meados do século XIX tomando-se o conhecimento como instrumento de apreensão do objeto de trabalho pelo homem. De uma perspectiva histórica, a enfermagem é entendida como prática socialmente articulada, parte de um processo coletivo de trabalho, cujas finalidades são o controle da doença na sociedade a nível coletivo e a recuperação individual da força de trabalho. Mediante bibliografia selecionada, procura-se identificar as características da assistência de enfermagem à criança na Inglaterra, no século XIX e os movimentos sumultâneos da prática médica: Medicina Social, Prática Médica Clínica e Puericultura. A seguir, são analisadas as características da assistência à criança nos Estados Unidos na primeira metade deste século e o seu referencial teórico.

The object of study of this investigations in the knowledge in pediatrics nursing from the institutionalization of the modern nursing beginning from the XIX Century. The knowledge in this study is considered as an instrument from which man apprehends his working object. From an historical perspective nursing is seen as a social articulated pratice, as part of a collective process of works, whose purposes are: the control of the disease in the society, based on collective level and the recuperation of the individual working strenght. Through the bibliography, we try to identify the characteristics of children's nursing assistance in England, during the XIX Century and the simultaneous movements of the medicinal practice: the social medicine, the clinic medical practice and puericulture. Followed the characteristics of the children's assistance in the United States in the beginning of the century and the theoretical reference in wich it is located

Este trabalho estuda a influência de F.W. Taylor e H. Fayol na produção científica da enfermagem brasileira, desde 1930 até 1980. É estudada a produção científica da enfermagem brasileira, procurando trabalhos baseados nas Escolas de Administração Científica e Clássica. A autora faz um levantamento bibliográfico baseado em duas publicações: a Revista Brasileira de Enfermagem e a Revista Paulista de Hospitais. Foram selecionados e estudados 68 trabalhos. Os achados mostram que Taylor/Fayol tiveram e ainda tem uma influência importante na fundamentação teórica da produção científica da enfermagem. A temática principal dos trabalhos se refere a estudos sobre "A Organização do Serviço de Enfermagem Hospitalar", e "Estudos de Tempo e Movimento de Atividades de Técnicas de Enfermagem ". A preocupação central destes textos é com a produtividade e a racionalidade do trabalho. Isto não leva em conta que a organização do trabalho na saúde e na enfermagem é um trabalho humano no atendimento das necessidades de saúde.

This paper traces the influence of F. W. Taylor and H. Fayol in the scientific output of brazilian nursing from 1930 to 1980. The scientific output of brazilian nursing is reviewed, looking for work based upon the Scientific and Classical Schools of Administration. The author executes a bibliografic survey based upon two periodicals: Revista Brasileira de Enfermagem and Revista Paulista de Hospitais. A total of 68 articles were selected and studied. Findings have shown that Taylor/Fayol had and still have an important influence on the theoretic foundation of nursing output. The central theme of the texts centers upon "Studies on the Organization of Hospital Nursing Sen'ices", and "Time and Motion Studies concerning Nursing Techniques and Activities:. The central preocupation in these texts refers to productivity and rationality of work, regardless of the fact that the organization of health and nursing work is a human task, referring to the satisfaction of health needs.

O ensino do paciente cirúrgico tem sido considerado como uma estratégia de atuação do enfermeiro, com o objetivo de facilitar a recuperação e minimizar as conseqüências que possam repercutir na qualidade de vida pós-cirúrgica. O objetivo deste estudo é apresentar considerações sobre o ensino do paciente cirúrgico no período perioperatório.

Teaching of surgical patients is an established approach of nursing care aimed at promoting the recovery of the patient and lessening the untoward consequences wich may affect post-surgery life. The requirements about teaching surgical patient are discussed in this study.

Este é um estudo de caso sobre a influência da crença religiosa operando nas condutas de saúde de uma cliente assistida numa Unidade Básica de Saúde. A abordagem inicial da cliente foi realizada por meio da consulta de enfermagem desenvolvida no modelo teórico do autocuidado e teve sua continuidade em visita domiciliaria e retorno ambulatorial. O transcorrer da interação revelou que o sagrado ocupa um lugar importante nas decisões desta cliente em relação à sua saúde.

This is a case study on the influence of religious beliefs interferinfg in the clients health actions in an outpatient unit. The initial approach of the client was made by a nursing consultations using self care framework. The continuity of intension was perfomed by home visit and follow-up consultation. The development of the interaction revealed that the holy occupies important place in the clients' decision in relation to her health.

A autora discorre inicialmente sobre os aspectos históricos, conceituais e etimológicos de fístulas digestivas, enfatizando como urna das prioridades terapêuticas preconizadas, a proteção da pele e controle do débito fistular. A partir daí, visualizando o campo de atuação do enfermeiro e, especificamente, do estomaterapeuta, passa a relatar o processo de assistência especializada enquanto avaliação, medidas adotadas e recursos atualmente disponíveis.

The author approaches about historical aspects, concepts, ethiology and treament of digestive fistula. The skin care and drainage control are the basis of stomal therapy. So, the author discusses the specific nursing and ET care in this subject, including evaluation, procedures and resources.

Neste trabalho as docentes da disciplina Administração aplicada à Enfermagem discorrem sobre a filosofia em que se baseiam para ministrar este curso e atingir a capacitação profissional. Apontam para a importância da: reflexão sobre a natureza do processo de transformação social e de saúde, considerando em especial o papel que o profissional deve desempenhar; competência técnico-científica e compromisso na intervenção crítica da realidade. O processo educativo é visto como o momento em que se realiza a reflexão da realidade com o compromisso de se buscar propostas de mudanças. Descrevem o conteúdo e os objetivos da disciplina, correlacionando-os com as competências a serem desenvolvidas no estudante no decorrer desta disciplina e as estratégias que vem sendo utilizadas.

In this study, the teachers of the Administration's discipline applied in Nursing, discourse on the philosophy on which they were based for achievery professional level. They point at the importance of the following: to reflect on the nature of the social and health transformation process, taking into account the part that the professional must have, thecnical-cientific competence and a critical envolvement with the reality. The educational process is seen as the moment in which the reflexion of reality is realized together with the envolvement in finding proposals for charger. A description of the contents and the objectives of the discipline is made, related with the competence skills to be developed by the student during (his course and the strategies that are beeing used.

Objetivou-se testar o emprego de variáveis contidas no modelo da Teoria da Informação em estudo de interação verbal entre Aidéticos e equipe de enfermagem. Os resultados obtidos evidenciam que o emprego do cálculo da variabilidade aos dados contidos em matriz SAVI enriquece os dados estatísticos, permitindo que a qualidade do diálogo em questão seja avaliada.

The objective of this paper was to verify the use of variables included in the information Theory in study that deals with verbal interaction between AIDS patients and Nursing team. The results showed that the use of the variability calculation in data retained in SAVI matrix improves the statistical data and permit that the quality of the dialogue can be evaluated.

Este trabalho teve com objetivo analisar a aprendizagem do exame das pupilas quanto ao seu diâmetro (DP), obtido por mensuração, e ao reflexo fotomotor (RFM), avaliado mediante julgamento subjetivo. A população foi constituida por 46 alunos do 4o semestre do Curso de Graduação em Enfermagem da USP. Os dados foram coletados em dois momentos: no laboratório de enfermagem e no campo clínico. Os resultados obtidos permitiram concluir que os alunos alcançaram altos níveis de concordância nas observações feitas, além de terem adquirido uma habilidade e um conhecimento específicos. Apresentaram, porém, uma variada gama de dificuldades, sobretudo na prática em campo clínico.

The goal of this study was to analyse the teaching-learning process of the pupil examination, in two aspects: the pupil diameter (DP), obtained by measurement and photomotor reflex (RFM), by subjective judgement. The sample was composed by 46 students of 4th semester in Nursing Undergraduate Course of University of São Paulo. The study was developed in two phases: the first was at nursing laboratory and the second, at clinical practice. The findings seemed to indicate that the learning was done because there was high level of agreement among students in their observation, development of an ability and a specific knowledge. The major difficulties was at clinical practice.

Este trabalha revela a percepção dos clientes de um ambulatório de pediatria de um hospital universitário de grande porte sobre a qualidade da assistência de enfermagem recebida. A investigação foi orientada pela abordagem fenomenológica, que propiciou o desvelamento da realidade investigada a partir da análise do discurso dos clientes entrevistados. As falas estudadas foram agrupadas em três categorias: o Trabalho da Enfermagem, a Atitude da Enfermagem e a Avaliação do Atendimento Recebido. Sobre estes temas os entrevistados construíram uma conceituação pouco nítida da Enfermagem como ciência e como profissão. Os aspectos relacionais e os comentários sobre os comportamentos esperados e encontrados no relacionamento com os profissionais de enfermagem mereceram a maior parcela de atenção do entrevistados. A avaliação da assistência recebida foi centrada na ausência de queixas. A expectativa dos entrevistados esteve dirigida para a satisfação das necessidades de segurança e aceitação de que se acham privadas as mães de crianças que adoecem. O atendimento dessas necessidades propicia condições para o estabelecimento do vínculo profisssional-cliente, a partir do qual se contruirá o relacionamento terapêutico. Com a devolução dos resultados às enfermeiras responsáveis pela assistência ambulatorial, pretendeu-se contribuir para a melhoria da qualidade da assistência prestada.

This study reveals the clients perception of a pediatric ambulatory in a great University Hospital, about the quality of the offered nursing assistance. An investigation was oriented by the phenomenologic approach which propitiated the reveling of reality investigated from the analysis of the interviewed clients discourses. The studied answers were grouped in three categories: the Nursing Work, the Nursing Attitude and the Evaluation of the Received Assistance. Upon these topics the interviewed clients formed a not very clear concept of nursing as science and as a profession. The related aspects and the commentaries about the expected and the meeted behaviours by the nursing professionals merited a larger part of attention by the interviewed clients. The evaluation of the received attendance was centered on absence of complaints. The interviewed clients expectance is directed towards the satisfaction of the security and acceptance needs from wich the mothers of children are deprieved. The attendance of this necessities give mothers conditions for establishment of a profissional-client link to a therapeutic relationship. Wich the devolution of the findings to the nurses responsibles for the ambulatory assistance, we pretended to contribute to the improvement of the offered assistential quality.

Tendo como referencial as teorias pedagógicas e como método o materialismo dialético, buscou-me apreender a visão de mundo e de enfermagem, bem como o ideário e a prática pedagógica dos professores de enfermagem e de um curso de graduação, procurando configurar o movimento contraditório entre conformismo e superação, bem como o potencial de transformação possível.

Having as a reference the pedagogical theories, andas a method the dialectical materialism, an effort was made to apprehend the vision of the world and of nursing, as well as the tenets and the pedagogical practice of an undergraduate nursing course faculty, trying to depict the contradictory movement between conformance and overcoming, as well as the possible transformation potencial.

Trata-se de um estudo preliminar que testa a aplicabilidade de um método de caracterização do conhecimento fundamentado na teoria dos grafos. Os grafos para elucidação do processo diagnóstico foram construídos por 11 (onze) enfermeiras de uma UTI geral as quais usualmente assistem pacientes com problemas neurológicos. Os resultados obtidos mostram que: a estrutura de conhecimento encontra-se em desenvolvimento; há consenso quanto à formulação dos diagnósticos; e, a base de dados que a fundamenta é diversificada e está ligada à forma de especificação da relação causual. O método mostrou-se viável e deve ser reaplicado em uma população maior.

It is a preliminary study testing the applicability of a method for knowledge characterization based on graphs theory. 11 (eleven) nurses working in a medical surgical intensive care unit including neurological patients contructed graphs to explain the diagnostic process. The results show that: the knowledge structure is in a developing stage; there is agreement regarding to diagnosis formulation and the data base on which it is founded is diversified and link to a specified form of related causes. The method demonstrated to be feasible and should be reapplied on a larger population.

Nas dores oncológicas em que não se conseguiu o controle com drogas por via oral, pode estar indicado a colocação de um catéter peridural, para analgesia domiciliar. Nesta situação o paciente/familiar infundem através deste artefato, analgésicos no sistema nervoso central. Este artigo discute como ocorre a analgesia, os sistemas para infusão de opiáceo no espaço peridural, as complicações e efeitos colaterais desta terapia.

A epidural cateter can be choosen for domiciliary oncological pain relief when relief is not achieved with oral drugs. The patient/relatives put in the central nervous systems the analgesic solution, throw this peridural cateter. This article discusses how pain relief occurs, the infusion systems of opiodes in the peridural space, the complications and side effects of this therapy.

E apresentado o apoio prestado pelo International Council of Nurses (ÍCN) por meio de um projeto com dois Seminários aos países africanos de língua oficial portuguesa (PALOP) -Angola, Cabo Verde, Guiné-Bissau, Moçambique, São Tomé e Principe. O referido projeto foi desenvolvido com os seguintes objetivos: analisar a situação da enfermagem nestes países; identificar seus pontos fracos e fortes; atualizar a situação dos sistemas de saúde para fortalecer a participação dos enfermeiros; identificar prioridades da associação profissional de enfermagem; incrementar o relacionamento com enfermeiros de outros países e com o ICN e, elaborar um plano de ação para estabelecer ou fortalecer a Associação Nacional de Enfermagem. Não se espera com o projeto que de imediato se estabeleça a profissão de enfermagem estruturada mas, esta iniciativa teve grandes impactos, haja vista, a filiação ao ICN de duas das associações criadas. São expostos ainda, dados sobre os países africanos de língua oficial portuguesa (PALOP) e sobre a enfermagem nestes países.

The support offered by the ICN to the african countries of portuguese language, is described in this paper. The countries that participated of the ICN' Project were Angola, Cabo Verde, Guiné-Bissau, Moçambique. São Tomé and Principe. The purposes of the project arc-analyse development of nursing in these countries; identify the needs of the nurses of the these countries; to evaluate the health systems and work to introduce the nurse in these systems: to identify the strughts and issues of the nursing associations; to promote the relationship among nurses and to estabilish plan to reinforce the national Nursing Association. We don't think that nursing is ready and well structured now, but this Project will be the first step in this direction. We have results an had some exemple of this is affiliation to the ICN of some African countries that have been made.
