Open-access Women's education through the press

The main focus of this topic is female education through body education, in content aimed at women, such information appears in advertisements that circulated in the Jornal Diário da Tarde and in the Protestant newspapers Expositor Cristão and O Estandarte in the first half of the 20th century. To this end, the objective is to analyze content from these newspapers that contain representations of intimacy about the female body during this period. The study is based on the theoretical-methodological assumptions of cultural history (Chartier, 1990), with bibliographical research and newspapers as the sources of investigation. The data obtained, through the understanding of representations, prescribes conduct and behaviors, in short, ways of acting that point not only to cultural and educational practices, and, therefore, to the training of women, in that historical time.
