The “fallacy” of female invisibility: traces of an anachronistic discourse

The study’s central theme is the analysis of the claim to justify considering the “fallacious” statement that women were made invisible when it comes to choices about archives of heritage preserved in custodial institutions. The central objective is to demonstrate the small existence of funds, collections and archives belonging to women in relation to the same assets held by men. To this end, the methodological procedures refer to a verification of the constant collection of guard houses and heritage institutions located in the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Petrópolis, highlighting the female memory funds in their quantitative relationship with the male memory funds. It concludes with the deconstruction of the anachronistic discourse that it is a “fallacy” to talk about female invisibility in heritage, corroborating the need for studies that can obstruct arguments without a scientific basis.
