The Feminine Look at The Documentary Ethnographic Cinema. Reassemblage (Trinh T. Minh-Ha, 1982)

Abstract:

The documentary film of the Vietnamese director Trinh T. Minh-Ha has been one of the most interesting made in recent decades due to its approach to the world of women in different countries and to the reconfiguration of ethnographic cinema and film language. This article addresses the main characteristics of Reassemblage, her first work, delving into the use of film language by the author and categorizing it within the reflective mode (Bill NICHOLS, 1997). This work will analyze the women's role in the ethnographic documentary, as it is carried out by a woman, and has a woman as the object of study.
