Open-access “Open your eyes, open your mind”. Peasant feminism and reflexivity

Abstract:

This paper outlines the process of reflexivity involved in the construction of a qualitative research project that aims to explore the labor and migratory trajectories of peasant women of Bolivian origin, who work in the horticultural belt of Greater La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina. We particularly examine how they construct, through the narration of their life stories, their self-perception as a woman, a peasant, and a Bolivian migrant, as well as their transformations resulting from the migratory experience and participation in a feminist organization. We reflect on the coloniality of power and feminist epistemology from a perspective that understands social relations in Latin America are strongly influenced by the colonial condition, with race and gender as determining factors in the construction of subjectivity.
