Open-access Feminist abolitionisms and care networks: activisms and their insurgent practices

Abstract:

The article discusses the emergence of feminist desencarced activisms that has, over the last 15 years, shifted the grammar of humanitarianism towards a forceful denunciation of the racism of the punitive system and demanding its abolition. Based on a survey of documents, participant observation and interviews with the founders of three collectives - Amparar, Libertas and Por Nós - the aim is to portray how activists mobilize a network of care around incarcerated women in the temporary release scene, putting the modern punitive paradigm into tension by evoking, instead, insurgent practices and epistemologies oriented towards social, racial and reproductive justice.
