Com o presente trabalho visamos fazer uma análise do conto "O amor", de Clarice Lispector, a partir das seguintes categorias apontadas por Sartre em O ser e o nada: olhar-ser olhado, instrumentalidade (funcionalidade) e amor. Partimos da experiência elaborada por Clarice em seu texto, na qual Ana, dona de casa atarefada e 'empenhada' em servir aos familiares ("pura funcionalidade"), se depara, numa de suas idas e vindas à cidade, com um cego mascando chicletes. Ora, um cego é um olho que não olha, é um olho sem função. É essa vivência que abre a Ana a dimensão do amor, num sentido muito específico (que aponta para as relações de gênero), e do qual a descrição fenomenológica de Sartre parece não dar conta.

The present work analyses Clarice Lispector's story "The Love", starting from the following categories pointed by Sartre in Being and the Anything: to see and to be seen, functionality and love. Starting from the experience elaborated by Clarice in her text, in which Ana - a housewife, always busy serving her family ("pure functionality") - , in one of her goings and comings to and from the city, comes across a blind man chewing a chewing gum. But a blind man has an eye that doesn't see, it is an eye without function. It is this experience that opens to Ana the dimension of love, in a very specific sense (which points out to the gender relationships), and for which the phenomenological Sartre's description seems to us somewhat limited.

En el presente artículo se exponen algunos de los antecedentes centrales del proyecto de investigación "Los Discursos de la Masculinidad": El Empoderamiento Femenino desde el Análisis Critico del Discurso.1 Utilizando un enfoque cualitativo, se desarrollaron entrevistas abiertas con el objetivo de comprender el significado que le asignan los hombres al liderazgo femenino. Los discursos fueron analizados en base a la Teoría Fundamentada de Anselm Strauss y Juliet Corbin (2003).2 Los resultados muestran que los varones coinciden en términos generales respecto a los cambios que ha habido en los roles de género, en que las mujeres tienen y deben tener más oportunidades, en que hay una mayor incorporación de éstas en el mercado laboral y en la necesidad de tener relaciones más equitativas al interior de la familia. Así mismo, emergen tensiones que configuran el malestar de la masculinidad, traspasando la esfera íntima y cuestionando las relaciones de intergénero actuales. También hay discursos más progresistas en los varones, que se aventuran hacia un reconocimiento de las capacidades y roles que han ido asumiendo las mujeres en el espacio público, aunque se trata de un reconocimiento vigilante, ambivalente, mediatizado por una percepción de confianza/desconfianza, eficiencia/incompetencia, hacia lo que ellas son capaces de lograr.

The present contribution deals with the meaning of the feminine leadership from a masculine perspective. By using a qualitative approach, open interviews were developed to understand the meaning that men assign to the feminine leadership. The speeches were analyzed on the basis of the Strauss/Corbin-theory (2003). The results show that men agree with the changes experienced by the gender roles. In a specific way, men agree that women need to have more societal-economic opportunities, which are necessary for more equitable relationship inside the family. However, within this positive framework emerging tensions configure a dissatisfaction of the masculinity that, in turn, impact the intimate sphere questioning the present day inter-gender relationship. Finally, there is a men's group with more progressive speeches which venture towards a positive evaluation of the women's capacities and their assumed public space-roles. However this positive evaluation is vigilant, ambivalent, and influenced by a perception of confidence/uncertainty, efficiency/inefficiency of the effective societal contribution that women are able to reach.

Este artigo apresenta o processo de construção de uma nova especialidade médica, os Cuidados Paliativos, voltada a doentes "fora de possibilidades terapêuticas de cura". A proposta surgiu nos anos 1960 na Inglaterra e foi implementada no Brasil no final dos anos 1980. A especialidade se caracteriza pelo acompanhamento do morrer e por postular uma "assistência espiritual" ao doente e a seus familiares, abarcando também o universo das emoções. Observação etnográfica e entrevistas com profissionais brasileiros constataram uma maioria de mulheres entre as equipes de saúde envolvidas nessa proposta. O artigo discute e analisa a articulação ente a construção da especialidade e as representações de gênero presentes entre os profissionais que, por seu turno, refletem imagens sociais difundidas sobre o morrer, crenças, emoções e papéis desempenhados por mulheres e homens nessas esferas.

This article presents the constitution of a new medical specialty, Palliative Care, directed to patients "out of therapeutic possibilities". The concept emerged around 1960 in England and was implemented in Brazil a couple of years before 1990. It is characterized by an active attendance of the dying process. It postulates a "spiritual assistance" to the patient and his/her family members, including the emotional universe. Ethnographical observation and interviews with Brazilian professionals showed a majority of women among the health teams involved in this proposal. This article discusses and analyses the connection between the construction of the specialty and gender representation among these professionals that reflects popular social images about death, beliefs, emotions and the roles played by women and men in these subjects.

La discriminación de género ha sido discutida en distintos ámbitos académicos y reconocida por los Estados. Una de las agendas difundidas desde las tribunas mundiales y que atraviesa diferentes dimensiones nacionales, regionales y locales es impulsar la educación equitativa entre los géneros para promover el desarrollo humano. Se sabe que cada vez son más las mujeres que tienen acceso a la educación, sin embargo entre más altos son los niveles de exigencia educativa, menos son las mujeres que participan en el desarrollo de tecnologías y en la generación de conocimientos. Nuestro trabajo intenta demostrar algunos indicadores de género que pueden estar correlacionados con esos procesos de productividad científica en la Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEM) y que deberían ser parte de las estrategias institucionales para impulsar la equidad de género. La metodología usada es un análisis de estadística descriptiva, obteniendo los datos de la evaluación del desempeño académico de la UAEM del 2003. Así como un estudio cualitativo para conocer la percepción del éxito como parte del reconocimiento público de investigadores y investigadoras de la misma institución, para ello fueron entrevistadas cuatro mujeres y cuatro varones, pertenecientes a diferentes disciplinas y entre 30 y 45 años de edad.

Gender discrimination has been discussed in several academic ambits and also recognized by the States. One of the main goals of the agenda that crosse national, regional and local dimensions consists in developing equal education between men and women. It is known that today women can access to a better education than in the past, however, as higher skills are required in technology or knowledge development, fewer women are enrolled . Our investigation intents to prove that some gender indicators may be connected according with the scientific productive process of the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEM). We believe that scientific productive process of the UAEM should be part of the institutional strategies to result in equal treatment for men and women. The methodology implemented is the analysis of descriptive strategy, trying to obtain data evaluation regarding the academic development of the UAEM from 2003. Also a quality study should be used to know the perception of success, focused on the public recognition from institution investigators. We based this report in the interviews made to four women and four men, who belong to different disciplines of investigations, aged from 30 to 45 years old.

O papel do amor na dinâmica da intimidade é inegável nas sociedades ocidentais, sendo inclusivamente um dos elementos centrais da vida social. O argumento de que o amor constitui o motor do desenvolvimento das relações interpessoais, sobretudo para as mulheres, representa uma peça fundamental na construção dos discursos sociais sobre a felicidade humana e os factores que a configuram. Tradicionalmente perspectivado como feminino, o amor tem sido apontado às mulheres como a sua suprema vocação,1 enredando-as, não raras vezes, num ideal de intimidade potencialmente castrador da sua autonomia e liberdade pessoal. Este artigo pretende reflectir criticamente a respeito das implicações da construção social dos discursos sociais sobre o amor na vivência da intimidade adulta feminina heterossexual, a partir de uma leitura feminista crítica. Discute-se neste documento a importância de assumir o discurso amoroso como um discurso paritário e democrático.

The role of love in intimacy dynamics is undeniable in occidental societies, being one of the central elements of social life. The argument that love constitutes the engine of interpersonal relations development, especially for women, represents a basic issue in the construction of social discourses about human being happiness and the factors that configure it. Traditionally seen as feminine, love has been pointed to women as its supreme vocation (Beauvoir, 1976) entangling them, not quite often, in an ideal of privacy potentially castrating of its autonomy and personal freedom. This article intends to critically reflect on the implications of social construction of discourses about love in feminine heterosexual adult intimacy, from a critical feminist point of view. This paper discusses the importance to assume love discourses as egalitarian and democratic.

No contexto religioso afro-brasileiro, alguns pesquisadores defendem ser o caboclo resultado do processo de nacionalização de hábitos africanos, em que o negro transmuta-se no que acredita ser indígena, a partir da imagem do índio na literatura romântica, tentando garantir um lugar para si no país após a escravidão. Neste artigo discute-se a pertinência desse argumento ao investigar a presença de entidades caboclas em sua vertente feminina, através de uma comparação destas com as imagens idealizadas de índias românticas. Advoga-se que, para entender a função das caboclas no panteão umbandista e em vidas de mulheres contemporâneas, será preciso dar ouvidos ao que elas dizem através de suas médiuns, relacionando seu discurso com as histórias de vida dessas mulheres e com a experiência social concreta das comunidades que se lhes devotam.

As far as the Afro-Brazilian religious context is concerned, some researchers consider the caboclo the result of a process in which the negro, trying to assure a collocation in the country after slavery being extinct, nationalize some African habits in order to turn themselves into what they imagine being an Indian might be, based on the Indian image expressed by the romantic literature. This article discusses the relevance of this argument by investigating the presence of the spiritual entity female representatives through a comparison between them and the idealized image of romantic Indians. It is stated that to understand the female caboclo's role in the umbanda cult as well as in contemporary women's lives it will be necessary to listen to these women by means of their spiritualistic mediums relating what they say to these women's life stories and to the actual social experience of the communities in which the entity is worshiped.

O texto expõe o ponto de vista de duas grandes filósofas feministas da atualidade, Adriana Cavarero e Judith Butler, sobre subjetividade e relacionalidade, mostrando como ambas distanciaram-se dos temas específicos do feminismo de maneira a aprofundar e ampliar suas reflexões sobre política e ética. Questionando a tradição, Cavarero não compactua nem com o binarismo metafísico nem com a impessoalidade pós-moderna, combinando uma perspectiva feminista com a arendtiana da subjetividade embasada na relacionalidade. No entanto, diferentemente do pensamento de Cavarero, sob a perspectiva desconstrucionista de Butler a linguagem molda corpo e identidade. A subjetividade está presa às normas e valores sociais. Butler e Cavarero repensam a subjetividade, alinhando-se quanto à relacionalidade, ou seja, deslocando a política para longe do ser imune e realocando-a no ser vulnerável em relação com o outro e com os efeitos das regras e valores sociais impostos.

The work presents the standpoint of two important contemporary feminist philosophers, Adriana Cavarero and Judith Butler, on subjectivity and relationality, showing how both moved away from the specific feminism motif in order to deepen and broaden their reflection on politics and ethics. Calling tradition into question, Cavarero agrees neither with the metaphysical binary, nor with the post-modern impersonality, combining a feminist and the arendtian perspectives of the subjectivity based on relationality. Contrary to Cavarero's thought, though, under Butler's deconstructionist standpoint language shapes body and identity. Subjectivity is "trapped" into social norms and values. Both Butler and Cavarero rethink subjectivity based on relationality, that is, displacing politics from the immune individual and reallocating it on the vulnerable individual in relation with the other and with the social rules and values imposed on them.

En este artículo me propongo contribuir desde una crítica feminista al estudio de los movimientos transnacionales a partir del análisis de las representaciones culturales imbricadas en las divisiones sociales del trabajo. Para ello analizo, a partir del trabajo etnográfico realizado en el Suroeste de la República Dominicana y en Madrid (España), las diferenciaciones de género, parentesco y sexualidad en su conexión con las representaciones de género de la emigración dominicana a España.

This paper intends to contribute to the analysis of the current transnational movements from the feminist criticism standpoint, showing the cultural representations imbricated in the social divisions of work. I analyze the division gender, kinship and sexuality in connexion with the gender representations of Dominican international migration to Spain. This work is based on an ethnographic study done in the southwest of the Dominican Republic and in the city of Madrid (Spain).

Em Fortaleza, uma das cidades vinculadas ao turismo sexual no Nordeste do Brasil, jovens mulheres das camadas baixas deixam o país com ou convidadas por turistas sexuais. Algumas se inserem na indústria do sexo na Europa. Outras, porém, a deixam, casando-se com europeus. Centrando-me em um universo de casais integrados por mulheres do Nordeste do Brasil e italianos, discuto as categorias de diferenciação que adquirem centralidade quando esses relacionamentos, iniciados em um terreno ambíguo da sexualidade, interesse econômico e romance no qual se misturam, são contextualizados na Itália. Analiso as implicações culturais, políticas e econômicas desse tipo de migração, refletindo sobre os significados adquiridos pela sexualidade tropical na migração para esse país do Norte.

In Fortaleza, which is one of the main cities linked to sex tourism in the Northeast of Brazil, young low income women leave the country with or invited by sex tourists. While some indeed engage themselves in the sex industry in Europe, others leave it when marrying European men. Focusing on the universe of integrants of couples integrated women from the Northeast from Brazil and Italian men, this paper addresses the differentiations that acquire centrality when these relationships, formed in an ambiguous terrain where sexuality, economic interest and romance intermingle, are contextualized in Italy. I analyze the cultural, political and economic implications of that migration. The study discusses the relationship between gender and economic negotiations in those couples, reflecting on the meanings acquired by "tropical sexuality" in the migration to that Northern country.

Este artigo pretende analisar a inserção das mulheres nos fluxos migratórios do passado e do presente, procurando demonstrar que a migração não é resultado apenas de uma escolha racional, mas também de estratégias familiares nas quais homens e mulheres estão inseridos, contribuindo para rearranjos das relações familiares e de gênero. Para tanto, discute como a participação das mulheres foi analisada nos fluxos migratórios e aborda o recente movimento de brasileiros para o exterior, descrevendo as trajetórias de homens e mulheres. O trabalho de campo, tal como a vida desses migrantes, dividiu-se entre dois lugares: a cidade de Criciúma (SC), no Brasil, e a região de Boston, nos Estados Unidos. Os dados coletados a partir das entrevistas e da observação participante têm revelado que as mulheres participam efetivamente desse processo, integrando e articulando redes de migração. Os dados também sugerem que a migração provoca rearranjos familiares e de gênero ao longo do processo.

This paper intends to demonstrate that migratory process results not only from individual choices, but also from social networks (family, kingship, friendship), in which men and women are inserted. The work discusses data from fieldwork in Criciúma (SC) and the Boston area, in United States. The data emerged from the interviews and participant observation show that women not only wait for their husbands or children, but also participate in the process, integrating and articulating migration networks. The data also highlighted the changes in the family and gender relationships, suggesting that the migratory process rearticulate these relationships. This study therefore evidences that other factors, along with the ones of economic nature, contribute for the decision of migrating and make the history of this flow.

Este artigo se propõe a fazer um balanço de uma das primeiras pesquisas etnográficas realizadas no Brasil sobre imigração, fundamentada na teoria da aculturação, com o intuito de verificar qual a contribuição desse tipo de pesquisa para o crescimento de uma etnografia feminista, que tem gênero como categoria central de seus trabalhos. Referimo-nos ao livro Italianos no mundo rural paulista, de João Baptista Borges Pereira. Através da análise dessa obra, discutiremos a viabilidade teórico-metodológica do emprego da categoria "gênero", buscando contribuir para o enriquecimento da etnografia feminista nos estudos migratórios internacionais.

This article intends to analyze the book Italianos no mundo rural paulista, by João Baptista Borges Pereira (1974), one of the earliest Brazilian ethnographic international migration researches, based on the acculturation theory, in order to corroborate its contribution to the feminist ethnography. We focus on the use of gender as a central category on the international migration studies, thus empowering the Feminist Ethnography.

A partir de uma experiência vivenciada como integrante do grupo que trabalhou a temática da migração de mulheres na Internationale Frauen Universität (IFU) em 2000, apresento neste artigo uma discussão sobre os fluxos migratórios de mulheres que deixam os países periféricos movendo-se em direção aos países de Primeiro Mundo para trabalhar como empregadas domésticas. Ocorre nesse processo uma verdadeira globalização da assistência, formando-se inclusive cadeias entre mulheres de diferentes nações, classes e etnias. As principais causas das migrações estão ligadas à luta pela sobrevivência, oportunidade de trabalho e estudo e conquista da independência em relação à opressão e à violência. Como proposta final, sugiro que, para conter os fluxos migratórios, são necessárias políticas públicas que venham ao encontro das necessidades básicas das mulheres em seus países de origem.

Based on an experience as a member of the group that worked with the theme of migration of women at the Internationale Frauen Universität (IFU) in 2000, this article presents a discussion about the migratory flows of women who work as domestic servants. There is a true globalization of assistance in this process, which even establishes chains between women of different nations, classes and ethnicities. The main causes of the migrations are linked to the struggle for survival and the opportunity to work, study and achieve independence from violence and oppression. I propose that, to contain migratory flows, public policies that meet the basic needs of the women in their countries of origin are necessary.
