This paper was directed to the laboratory geotechnical characterization of the material called fibersoil for civil engineering purposes. One soil was used throughout the study, encompassing a clayey soil. Unconfined compression testing data were used to determine the soil optimum fiber content. Fibersoil specimens prepared at the optimum fiber content were tested under triaxial compression (CID/Sat). From the laboratory testing program data it was possible: (i) to evaluate the influence of the water content on the mechanical response of the fibersoils; (ii) to evaluate the influence of the fibers on the soil shear strength parameters.
