West of the West: lines and perspectives in confrontation

The article shows how the natural law theory at the same time legitimized the modern State, based on the notions of sovereignty and international community, and planted the seeds of his revolutionary contestation by its citizens. The text shows the first records of this internal challenge of the modern State in Europe and America.
