ABSTRACT
This article presents the history of the personal archive of the composer Camargo Guarnieri (1907-1993) since its formation until its arrival at the institution where it is hold, the Archive of the Institute of Brazilian Studies of USP. It is verified a systematic effort from the composer at the construction of an archival legacy in coherence with his life narrative, both as an autobiographic act and as a form of resistance against the political and cultural changes he has lived. For last, from a brief description of his correspondence, it is demonstrated social networks between the composer and other personalities of his time and their relations with other personal archives and the cultural institution where they are hold.
