ABSTRACT
Finding a photograph of Adalgisa Umbelina de Almeida Santos, mother of the geographer and black intellectual Milton Santos, amid the complex and voluminous Milton Santos Fund, part of the IEB’s archival collection, can raise many questions. Starting from the search to understand what would be the place of this image in a documental set marked mainly by the major themes that make up the geographer’s intellectual project, we can bring to light not so visible elements of the trajectories of black intellectuals and questions about where black people are in Brazilian thought or the history that is told in institutions such as the IEB itself.
KEYWORDS:
