Treatment of Toxoplasma gondii retinochoroiditis with clindamycin hydrochloride

Clindamycin hydrochloride was used in the treatment of eighteen patients with Toxoplasma gondii retinochoroiditis. The drug was employed once or twice in episodic flares in each patients. Its efficacy in refraining inflammation and inducing scaring could be established when the drug was used orally. It was quite well tolerated by all patients and although recurrences were sometimes noticed, clindamycin has proved useful as an alternative therapy of the ocular involvement due to Toxoplasma gondii.
