“Social issue”, sexual division of labor and mental health in the pandemic

Abstract:

This paper analyzes the implications of the intensification of the “social issue” and the sexual division of labor in the mental health of women in the context of a pandemic (COVID-19) in the municipality of Aracati-CE. The research is based on Marx's critical social theory and has a qualitative-quantitative approach comprising three stages: the exploratory stage, bibliographical research and field research. The study was carried out with twelve women through semi-structured interviews and showed that they experience a process of production of mental suffering due to the worsening of the “social issue” and the sexual division of labor in the current pandemic.
