In this paper, focused on the problem of sexual addiction within psychoanalysis, the authors initially reveal that the basis of their theory can be found in the early days of Freud's work in the field of present neuroses. In later psychoanalytical research, this clinical situation tends to be considered close to sexual perversion. In this paper, the intertwining of these two clinical pictures is explored to identify points of convergence and divergence, emphasizing, however, the singular nature of sexual addiction.
