The Cultural Countertransference deals with the difficulties of abstracting ourselves from our social representations, to understand other discursive forms. In the text, the author discusses the problems encountered when working with other symbolic universes. This countertransference manifests itself as a defense, when the universals of psychoanalysis are singled out in other cultural spaces. If the clinical method cannot be governed by institutionalized norms, the text discusses the possibility of applying it in other discursive universes.
