Flora of the Usina São José, Igarassu, Pernambuco: Annonaceae

Abstract

Annonaceae comprises about 2,400 species and is represented in Brazil by 382 species, having the Atlantic Forest as the second most rich phytogeographical area in the country, with about 97 taxa. This study aimed to raise awareness of the family in the Northeast by performing a taxonomic family treatment in the Atlantic Forest fragments located at Usina São José, Igarassu, Pernambuco. In the studied area six genera and nine species of Annonaceae were recorded: Anaxagorea dolichocarpa, Annona montana, A. salzmannii, Cymbopetalum brasiliense, Duguetia gardneriana, D. moricandiana, Guatteria pogonopus, G. schomburgkiana, and Xylopia frutescens, having D. moricandiana as the first references in the state of Pernambuco. Descriptions and commentaries of the recorded species, along with illustrations, and an identification key are presented.
