ABSTRACT
This work refers to floristic survey of the coastal zone of Jacarepiá Lagoon, located at Saquarema, Rio de Janeiro state. This wetland represents an important lagoon region that has seasonally or permanently flooded vegetation. The plants adapted to this kind of habitat are called aquatic macrophytes and play an important role in ecological dynamics of ecosystems. Fertile plants were collected, dried and identified by traditional methodology. The exsiccatae were deposited in the RFA and RFFP herbaria. The floristic survey registered 101 vascular species, 93 species of Magnoliophyta belonging to 78 genera and 40 families; 8 species of Pteridophyta belonging to 7 genera and 5 families. The most important families are: Cyperaceae (16 spp.), Asteraceae (13 spp.), Leguminosae (8 spp.), Poaceae (6 spp.) and Rubiaceae (5 spp.). These families hold 47.5% of the total number of species found. The vegetation is dominated by Cladium jamaicense Crantz. Only 43.6% are true aquatic macrophytes. The predominant life form is amphibious (48%) followed by tolerant (30%), emergent (15%), fixed floating (4%), free floating (3%) and free submersed (1%).
