Paullinia carpopodea Camb. (Sapindaceae). Anatomia foliar.

Abstract

In this paper the authors present the heterophylly of Paullinia carpopodea Camb. and make some considerations about its probable causes.

They mention the trilacunar nodal structure and characteristics of foliar vascularization as well as the occurrence of internal phloem in more developed vascular bundles of the petiole and midrib. Ramified laticifers that anastomose according to a reticulate pattern are refered too.

They also mark out the presence of non-glandular and glandular trichomes, stomata with predominance anomocytic type, as well as primary-axilary marsupiforms domatia. In the latter, insects of the order Thysanoptera. small acarids, and unidentified agglomerate eggs are observed. The occurrence of structures that possess characteristics of hidathodsepithema are refered too.
