Abstract
The developmental anatomy of each floral verticil, as well as pollen formation and germination and ovule formation, were studied in Cassia macranthera. The principal anatomical features were; non-synchronous development of the floral verticils; simultaneous development of all seven anthers and the sporogenous tissue and structural similarity of the anthers; sugary contents in some anther tissue and in trichomes among the bases of the floral components, as well as in the epidermis which covers the locule of the ovary; sclerified layers beneath the epidermis of the anther which impedes dehiscense; fertility of all the anthers.
