Flora of the cangas of Serra dos Carajás, Pará, Brazil: Monimiaceae

The only species of Monimiaceae recorded so far for the cangas of Serra dos Carajás is Mollinedia ovata, a widely distributed species in the Antilles and South America. Locally this species has a restricted distribution, found only in the Serra Sul (S11A and S11B) and Serra Norte (N7). A detailed description, illustration and comments on morphology, distribution and habitat of this species are presented here.
