ABSTRACT
The wood anatomy of the species Simira glaziovii (K. Schum.) Steyerm., S. pikia (K. Schum.) Steyerm. and S. rubra (Mart.) Steyerm. (Rubiaceae) is decribed. The wood anatomy is discussed in relation to taxonomy of studied species. The main anatomical differences were: presence of sheath cells and type of inorganic inclusions on rays; vessels frequency, width, and length; rays frequency, width, and length; and fibres length. The colour that woods acquired before cut can be used to important subside on identification of species.
