Abstract

This study consists of the floristic survey and taxonomic treatment of the species of Lamiaceae found in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. Thirty species were recorded in 19 genera of Lamiaceae, of which 16 species and 13 genera are native to Brazil and the remaining taxa adventive, either established or under cultivation. Characters such as inflorescence, bracts, calyx and corolla were important to differentiate the species found. This paper provides an identification key to the native species, morphological descriptions, illustrations, photographs and information regarding species distribution and phenology for the native species occurring in the state.
