ABSTRACT
The taxonomic study of the Smilacaceae occurring in the Biological Reserve of Poço das Antas was developed based on herbarium material of Research Institute Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden and comprises identification key, descriptions, geographic distribution of the taxa and comments. For this Reserve nine taxa were analysed, some with few collections from the state of Rio de Janeiro such as Smilax japicanga Griseb. and S. stenophylla A.DC. In general the taxa occur in this area are found in low-hill forest or lowland forest.
