Open-access Verbenaceae in the Parque Estadual da Serra do Papagaio, Minas Gerais, Brazil

Abstract

The Parque Estadual da Serra do Papagaio is located in Southern Minas Gerais, and is part of the Mantiqueira Complex, with vegetation composed for campos de altitude, dense and mixed ombrophilous forests mosaic. The present study aimed to carry out a floristic treatment for Verbenaceae in this Conservation Unit. The family is represented in the Park by ten taxa distributed in four genera: Glandularia (G. lobata var. glabrata e G. phlogiflora), Lantana (L. camara and L. fucata), Lippia (L. lupulina, L. rotundifolia, L. stachyoides var. martiana and L. triplinervis) e Verbena (V. alata and V. hirta). Verbena alata stands out as a new occurrence for the state of Minas Gerais, and Lippia rotundifolia and L. stachyoides var. martiana, common in the Espinhaço Range, are recorded for the first time in the Serra da Mantiqueira, in the Atlantic domain. Identification keys, descriptions, illustrations and ecological, taxonomic and geographic distribution comments of taxa are presented.
