Evangelical Churches dualism and their socio-political stance

Abstract: The research on religion and public sphere in Felipe Camarão Neighborhood (Natal-RN) during more than a decade has caused a question about the doctrinal or philosophical hindrance to an impact of this intense church presence in Brazilian urban peripheries in response to the social problems present there. It has been researched for five years all 97 churches found in the 2011 survey. Metaphysical dualism appeared as an issue of tension or of plain circulation in the core of those churches. To discuss the practical implications of this dualistic mentality, this paper proposes an answer to the question formulated above.
