Placed sociabilities in religious studies. An analysis of a spiritual “zone” in Buenos Aires, Argentina, periphery

Abstract: The purpose of this article is to contribute to the debate and reflection around the links between space and religion by means of the analysis of one of its many expressions: the connection between religion and residence. With that purpose in mind, I will analyze the spiritual, working and educational trajectories of two couples of lifestyle migrants that moved their residence to a town in the periphery of Buenos Aires whose population and equipment grew significantly in the last three decades, and where an important circuit of New Age practices developed. I will show the mobilization of spiritualized conceptions of space and habitat, as well as the centrality the equipment and space situated sociabilities have in the processes of contact and recognition of an orientation towards spirituality. The data was built by means of biographical methods.
