Traços puritanos na pintura de Rembrandt

This text develops a clue that was raised by Max Weber in The protestant ethic and the "spirit" of the capitalism: it deals about the protestant ascesis' influence on Rembrandt's painting. Taking Weber's sociology of religion and some analyses of the Dutch painter and the seventeenth century Holland as guidelines, it is argued that it's possible to see in a certain part of Rembrandt's artistic itinerary the pictorial equivalent of the puritan sensibility described by Weber.
