A health and environmental survey has been carriedon the "favela do Borel" - Guanabara State, supported by Heitor Beltrao Health Centery in order to obtain data on demographic composition, living accomodation (type of building, water source, and sewage disposal), social interests, and health conditionttyve of medical care, knowledge and use of Heitor Beltrão Health Center facilities, and prevalence of stool parasites in children. The results obtained have been the first step in order to develop a program on sanitary education and environmental sanitation.
