Splenoportography was performed in 5 patients infected with P. falciparum in 3 with P. vivax and in 2 with both Plasmodia; 2 out of these cases presented also schistosomiasís mansoni. Results were as follows: a) fortuous splenic vein in 4 cases due to hevatosplenomegaly: b) reduction in the number of Intrahepatic portal vein branches in 7 cases; c) henatogram also showinn a considerable and universal enlargement of the liver shadow. These results seem not to be influenced bv the species of Plasmodmm. Needle liver biopsy was perfcrmed in 9 patients, showinn no important hystopathological changes in all but one of the cases, who presented associated schistosomiasis.
