In view of socio-economic and sanitary changes during ten (10) years, the authors gathered data on the prevaíence of enteroparasites in the urban population of São Tomé, Rio Grande do Norte. They collected from July 9 to July 27, 1979, 826 faecal samples which they examined using the spontaneous sedimentation method (Hoffmann, Pons, and Janer). 565 were positive for the various intestinal parasites, corresponding to a prevaíence of 68,4%. Although environmetal conditions have improved, they still contributed to the dissemination intestinal protozoal and helminthic infections.
