The authors report the case of an anencephalic neonate, who presented at autopsy extreme dilatation of the left colon accompanied by degenerative and inflammatory alterations of the myenteric plexus and parasitism of large vacuolated cells by amastigote forms of T. cruzi, exclusively in large bowel. The large bowel alterations were the sole manifestation of Chagas' disease.
