Intellectual history and political theory

This essay attempts to present and analyze three theoretical endeavors within the field of intellectualhistory that have contributed to enriching the prospects for a historically informed political theory.Regardless of the fact that Kosselleck, Skinner and Bevir disagree regarding the specific object ofintellectual history (concepts, linguistic acts and expressed beliefs, respectively), these three authorscan be seen as providing formulations of a type of political theorization that is sensitive to time and tothe contingencies of political life.

History of Concepts; linguistic contextualism; new intentionalism; Reinhart Koselleck; Quentin Skinner; Mark Bevir
