The height of mango trees is, in general, of the order of 10 to 12 m, with a crown diameter of 7 to 10 m, a size that is not compatible with management practices such as phytosanitary spraies and harvest. The reduction of the crown of the mango tree to half its size would permit a higher plant density per hectar, a greater facility of management practices, like harvest and deseased branch pruning. As a consequence a higher yield is also expected. This note is presented with the aim of discussing this issue.
