Plum cuttings from the cultivars "Sangall", "All producer", "Ace", "Beauty" and "Roxo Itaquera" were collected from an orchard at Palma Farm, Pelotas, Brazil, in 15-day intervals, from July to December, 1994 for a comparative study of the evolution of tryptophan in branches. The level of tryptophan in the cuttings indicated that the best period for harvest of cuttings is between September 14th and 28th.
