Abstract
This research aims to understand Catholicism in France, especially the current situation of left-wing Catholicism. We propose to describe the general configuration of French Catholicism, map the main Catholic groups on the left, and analyze the role of the three contemporary experiences of the French Catholic left. This research aims to answer three questions: Who are the left-wing Catholics? Where are they today? Do we find a transmission to new generations? We understand that these small, fragmented groups (a veritable nebula) are all over France, are represented by institutions located especially in Paris; and are composed of secular individuals in their sixties who face internal conflict and oppose the institutional Church.
